Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball team closed out its 2025 season on Saturday with a road tri-match at Elizabethtown College, taking on the host Blue Jays before facing Stevenson University.
In the opener, the Scarlet Raiders battled through three tightly contested sets but fell 3–0 (25–20, 25–20, 25–21). Tracey Ilderis led the way with nine kills, while Angelyse Orellana and Nicole Sullivan guided the offense with 14 and 10 assists respectively. Jaedyn Simba-Malasarte led the defense with 17 digs in the match Rutgers-Newark created long rallies and had scoring stretches in each frame, but Elizabethtown's late-set execution proved to be the difference.
In the second match of the day, Rutgers-Newark matched up with Stevenson and again pushed to stay within striking distance early, but the Mustangs found separation behind strong serving and consistent attacking in a 3–0 decision (25–19, 25–14, 25–15). Cyan Long paced the Raiders' attack with seven kills, and Mia Espinoza contributed across the net with five kills and a team-high four total blocks.
The tri-match marked the end of the Scarlet Raiders' 2025 season. Throughout the year, Rutgers-Newark continued to develop a young core and gain valuable experience in both non-conference and NJAC competition.
