NEWARK, NJ - The Rutgers-Newark Athletics Department honored their 2025 Hall of Fame Class on Sunday, March 30. Over 100 guests piled into The Golden Dome to celebrate the achievements of the former student-athletes.
The class includes the following individuals:
- Matt Broomall, Men's Soccer/Track & Field, Class of 2015
Matt Broomall (2012-2016) was a dynamic force for the men's soccer team during his career at Rutgers-Newark. His exceptional play and consistency made him one of the program's top performers. He was instrumental in leading the team through some of its most successful seasons, garnering individual accolades along the way. His rookie campaign was remarkable as he earned NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year, All-NJAC First Team recognition, and Rutgers-Newark Rookie of the Year honors. In his second season, Broomall earned recognition as an All-NJAC honorable mention while leading the squad into the NCAA D3 Championship Tournament. He helped guide the Scarlet Raiders back to the big dance in 2014, where they won the school's first-ever NCAA postseason match. For his phenomenal play that season, he earned his second NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year honor and All-NJAC First Team nod. In his final season, Broomall earned All-NJAC Honorable Mention accolades again as he guided Rutgers-Newark to an ECAC/Metro Championship game win. Playing over 7,800 minutes over the course of 88 matches, Broomall had a goals against average of 1.198, and recorded 342 saves, had a goalkeeper record of 60-27-3 with 30 shutouts. Broomall then lent his talents to the track & field team, where he competed in the indoor and outdoor season in the field events, making him a multi-sport athlete. Away from competition, Broomall participated in the prestigious NCAA Career in Sports Forum, where he brought back a wealth of knowledge.
- Ashley Canty, Women's Track & Field, Class of 2016
Ashley Canty (2012-2016), a native of Pleasantville, NJ, was an exceptional talent for the Rutgers-Newark women's track & field team, recognized for her outstanding field performance. Canty's contributions to the program during her time with the team resulted in numerous accolades. In 2015, she was the NJAC Indoor Shot Put Runner-Up and 2015 Outdoor Discus Champion, winning the event by more than four feet. She went on to earn silver in the discus throw at the ECAC Outdoor Championships. She picked up gold medals in the weight throw and shot put at the 2016 Indoor Championships to be named the 2016 NJAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. She capped her career as the 2016 NJAC Outdoor Discus Champion to win back-to-back titles, as she improved her mark by three meters from the year prior, being ranked nationally in the event all year long. At the time of her graduation, Canty held school records in the hammer throw, outdoor shot put, and weight throw.
- Juliana Ceballos, Women's Soccer, Class of 2019
Juliana Ceballos (2015-19), a native of Elizabeth, NJ, was a key player for the women's soccer team known for her fierce determination and extraordinary skill on the field. As one of the program's all-time top performers, Ceballos helped elevate the team to national recognition and was instrumental in securing numerous victories during her time as a Scarlet Raider. She earned All-NJAC First Team honors in 2017 and 2018, and honorable mention accolades in 2016. Ceballos finished her career with 29 goals scored, 19 assists, 77 points, 304 shots, .434 shots on goal percentage, six game winners, 4-for-5 in penalty kick attempts, and 5,913 minutes played.
- Cody Chidsey, Men's Volleyball, Class of 2016
Cody Chidsey (2013-2016) was a dominant presence for the men's volleyball team, known for his athleticism and technical prowess. His exceptional skills as a middle hitter helped the Scarlet Raiders reach new competitive heights, earning him multiple accolades and recognition throughout his career. In the classroom, he was named to the 2013 and 2014 All-EIVA Academic Team. In 2015, he helped lead the Scarlet Raiders to a NCAA Elite 8 appearance after winning the CVC Championship. He was named a 2015 Second Team AVCA All-American, 2015 All-ECAC Second Team, 2015 All-CVC First Team, 2015 CVC Player of the Year, two-time AVCA National Player of the Week (2015), three-time CVC Player of the Week,Gerald Massenburg Award winner, All-CVC Academic Team, and 2014-15 Rutgers-Newark Male Athlete of the Year. He led Rutgers-Newark in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage en route to an All-American season. He finished the year third nationally in hitting percentage at .444. He ranked first in the conference in both hitting percentage (.444) and kills (345), and ranked fourth in the conference for kills per set at 3.14 and 32nd nationally. In 2016, he earned Second Team AVCA All-American honors, grabbed one CVC Player of the Week nod, was named to the All-CVC First Team, All-CVC Academic Team, helped his team to the NCAA Elite 8 and finished sixth nationally in hitting percentage at .449. He completed his career with 1,111 career points, 845 career kills, .377 hitting percentage, 62 solo blocks, 185 block assists, 144 digs, 58 aces, and 36 assists. Chidsey continues to be celebrated as one of the top players in Rutgers-Newark history.
- Hubert Dul, Men's Soccer, Class of 2018
A standout player for the Scarlet Raiders men's soccer team, Hubert Dul (2013-2017), a native of Wallington, NJ, made significant contributions during his time at Rutgers-Newark. Known for his leadership and skill on the field, he helped elevate the program to new heights by playing a key role in numerous victories. He was named the 2017 NJAC Midfielder of the Year in addition to earning 2017 First Team All-Conference and 2014 Second Team All-Conference accolades. In his first season, the team finished 17-6-1, reached the NJAC Championship match for the first time in program history, and earned the program's first NCAA Championship at-large berth. The following season, he earned Second Team All-NJAC honors as a midfielder for a 16-6-0 squad that finished second in the NJAC regular season and posted the program's first ever victory in the NCAA D3 National Tournament. As a junior, Dul helped Rutgers-Newark to the 2015 ECAC Metro/Upstate title and a 16-win season. He bounced back from an injury in 2017 to help lead the Scarlet Raiders to a 20-3-1 season, where they won the NJAC Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA D3 National Tournament once again. Dul started 61 of the 65 matches in which he played, recording 11 goals, 21 assists, and 43 points. He had a shots on goal percentage of .438 and registered five game winners. He played a total of 4,328 minutes.
- John Snow, Men's Basketball, Class of 2016
John Snow (2012-2014, 2015-2016) , a proud Brick City native, made a lasting impact on the Scarlet Raiders men's basketball team with his fierce competitiveness and well-rounded game. A two-time First Team All-NJAC honoree (2013-14, 2015-16), he showcased his skill and leadership over three remarkable seasons. In just three seasons of play, Snow reached the 1,000-point milestone, finishing his career with 1,184 points, while his contributions on both ends of the court played a key role in the team's success. His efforts helped lead the Scarlet Raiders to multiple standout seasons, including a 20-8 record in 2012-13 that earned an NCAA D3 National Tournament berth, a 20-9 finish in 2013-14 culminating in an ECAC Second Round appearance, and a 20-8 season in 2015-16 that resulted in an ECAC First Round showing. During his time as a Scarlet Raider, the team posted an impressive 60-25 overall record. A consistent and dependable presence, Snow started 76 of the 84 games he played, tallying 151 assists, 435 rebounds, 17 blocks, and 86 steals. He demonstrated his consistent shooting prowess, averaging an impressive and efficient .462 from the floor throughout his career, averaging 14.1 points per game, and logged a total of 2,594 minutes on the court. Beyond his statistics, Snow's leadership on and off the court left a lasting legacy, that continues to inspire future generations of Scarlet Raider athletes both on and off the court.
- Kelly Yusko, Softball, Class of 2018
Kelly Yusko (2015-2018), a native of Portage, PA, was a powerhouse for the Scarlet Raiders softball team. Her impressive pitching and leadership abilities helped propel the program to new successes. Yusko's dedication and exceptional talent earned her numerous awards and recognition, including being named a four-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honoree, All-Region performer, and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) pitcher. She remains one of the most respected figures in the history of Rutgers-Newark softball, as she's also a current assistant coach for the Scarlet Raiders. For her career, Yusko put up a set of remarkable numbers, leading the Scarlet Raiders to two 21-win seasons and a pair of ECAC Tournament appearances. In addition to 206 career hits, she ended her Raider run with a .444 batting average and a .651 slugging percentage. She slugged .820 as a rookie and .685 as a junior, totaling 106 RBI over four seasons along with 302 total bases, 19 homers, 39 doubles and 42 walks. A player that could do it all with the bat, Yusko hit for power and contact, striking out just 23 times in more than 500 plate appearances. In the circle she tossed more than 540 innings, earning a lofty 41 wins with a 3.35 earned-run average. She appeared in 112 games, making 91 starts and going the distance in more than half of them (49). She pocketed three saves and nine complete-game shutouts, striking out a total of 315 opponent batters.
