Newark, NJ – The Rutgers-Newark women's soccer team battled Eastern University on Olson Field today. The Scarlet Raiders fell 1–0 in a tightly contested match that seen the game's lone goal come in the 59th minute when Eastern's Billinda Leisner found the back of the net, assisted by Ashlynn Keys and Emma Bennett.

Rutgers-Newark generated nine shots, four on target, and earned two corner kicks, showcasing their offensive efforts throughout the match. Goalkeeper Shaina Sackett made four saves, keeping the Scarlet Raiders competitive and giving them chances to equalize. With this defeat, Rutgers-Newark's record drops to 1–2 on the season, as they prepare for their home opener against Pratt on September 6th.
