Newark, NJ – Rutgers–Newark women's soccer put forth a spirited effort on the road but fell in a tightly contested 3–2 battle against FDU–Florham Wednesday night. The Devils opened the scoring in the 13th minute, seizing early momentum, but the Scarlet Raiders responded quickly just two minutes later when Avril Sibaja converted a setup from Dana Nunez to level the match at 1–1. That equalizer energized Rutgers–Newark, who began to apply consistent pressure in the attacking third, but FDU reclaimed the lead in the 41st minute to take a 2–1 advantage into halftime.

The second half brought more back-and-forth action as Rutgers–Newark pressed for another equalizer, recording 19 total shots on the night with eight on frame. However, FDU found a crucial insurance goal midway through the half, pushing their lead to 3–1. Still, the Scarlet Raiders refused to back down. Their persistence paid off in the 85th minute when Emily Karlicki, assisted by J'nyyah Young, slotted home a late strike to pull the visitors within one. The final minutes saw Rutgers–Newark push numbers forward and create dangerous opportunities, but despite outshooting the Devils 19–15 and forcing six saves from FDU goalkeeper Ava Gianni, the Scarlet Raiders could not find the equalizer.

Goalkeeper Alisha Perez anchored the defense with five saves to keep Rutgers–Newark within striking distance, while Sibaja and Karlicki provided the scoring punch on the offensive end.
