GLASSBORO, N.J. – Rutgers–Newark fell 87–57 to Rowan University on the road in NJAC action after a slow start put the Scarlet Raiders in an early hole.

Rutgers–Newark got off to a slow start on the road, trailing 20–9 after the first quarter, and those struggles continued into the second as the Scarlet Raiders went into halftime down 43–24 against Rowan University in NJAC action.

The Scarlet Raiders worked to find a rhythm coming out of the break, but Rowan continued to control the tempo and answer each push. Rutgers–Newark saved its best offensive stretch for late, putting up 27 points in the fourth quarter, but the rally proved too little, too late as the Profs maintained a comfortable lead down the stretch.

Quanajah Felder led the way for Rutgers–Newark with 19 points, while Sanaa Brodie added 16 points in the loss. Despite the late surge, Rowan's balanced attack and strong first half were enough to keep the Scarlet Raiders from completing the comeback.

Rutgers-Newark will look to get back on track as they return home next Wednesday for a NJAC rematch with Rutgers-Camden.
