MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Rutgers-Newark women's basketball team took on Montclair State in NJAC action and faced a tough road challenge, falling 85–53 at the Panzer Athletic Center. The Scarlet Raiders battled throughout the afternoon but were unable to overcome Montclair State's Balanced offensive attack.
Rutgers-Newark went down 15–9 after the opening quarter, and Montclair State pushed the lead into double digits before halftime. The Scarlet Raiders worked to settle into the game offensively but struggled to generate consistent scoring as the Red Hawks maintained control heading into the break.
Montclair State pulled away midway through the third quarter, using a 15–0 run to push the game out of reach.
Offensively, Rutgers-Newark was led by Quanajah Felder with 14 points, while Sanaa Brodie added 11 points and provided energy throughout the game.
Rutgers-Newark will look to regroup as NJAC play continues, turning its focus to a home matchup with NJCU on Wednesday.
