Fateen Belfield

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Fateen Belfield enters his second season as a member of the Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball coaching staff in 2018-19. Belfield - a former Scarlet Raider player - also has been a member of the women's basketball coaching staff and has plenty of inside knowledge about Rutgers University-Newark basketball.

He was a key player for the Scarlet Raider men’s basketball team which reached the New Jersey Athletic Conference title game and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA D-III Championship Tournament in 2013.

The Irvington native started in 19 games in 2012-13, using his 6-foot-8 frame to block 23 shots and help control the lane for the Raider men who came just two points shy of notching the first conference championship in program history.

After an all-star career at Irvington High School, Belfield was a first-team All-Region 19 and All-Garden State junior college player at Essex County College from 2009 to 2011.

As a junior at St. Catharine College in Kentucky, he was named to the Mid-South Conference All-Academic team while playing in 27 games for the 13-15 Patriots.

Belfield completed his bachelor of arts in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from Rutgers University-Newark in October of 2015.
