Kurt Villani graduated from Montclair St in 2009. Villiani has been an assistant coach for Rutgers University-Newark since the 2006-07 season. Since his arrival he has helped guide the team to a pair of NCAA Tournament bids in 2009-10 and 2012-13. As part of the coaching staff, Villani has also had a hand in four 20 win seasons for the Scarlet Raiders.

Villani latched onto a slot on Joe Loughran’s staff after just one season as an assistant varsity coach and freshman head coach at Belleville High School. 

Under Villani, Rutgers University-Newark has seen 12, 1,000 point scorers with the most recent being Chase Barneys who just wrapped up his career with 1,500+ points. Joining Barneys on that list is David Cherry, Deshawn Singleton, Pedro Burgos, Al Don Muhammad, Chris Garcia, John Snow, Jordan McDaniel, David Azoroh, Mark Thomas, and Tyler Ofray.

He has also helped Loughran get the most out of their players which has resulted in six players being named First Team All-NJAC and Jordan McDaniel being named NJAC Player of the Year. Most recently, Mike Vick was crowned NJAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Villani also assists with the well-oiled Scarlet Raider Basketball Camp that takes place every summer.

He currently lives in Cedar Grove with wife Jenna and daughter Lena.
