The 2006 New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year while playing for Kevin East at New Jersey City University, Anthony Flores is beginning his second year as the graduate intern for the Rutgers-Newark men’s soccer program.

The young mentor has a keen eye for detail and the ability to relate to members of East’s very young team.

He earned third-team all-state honors as well as first-team all-conference and all-county native in soccer as a senior. In track & field, he was an all-American, all-state, all-county and all-conference hurdler, competing in both the 400-meters and the 110-meter high hurdles.

He received a bachelor of arts in journalism from New Jersey City in 2007 and hopes to finish work on a master’s degree in liberal studies at Rutgers-Newark in the spring of 2009.
