Wayne Brown joins the Scarlet Raider staff with a background in area prep school track & field coaching and a keen knowledge of Rutgers-Newark.

Brown has coached at Montclair Kimberley Academy and Queen of Peace High School, helping tutor outstanding boy and girl athletes in sprints and jumps to state titles and numerous Meet of Champions appearances.  He works at Rutgers-Newark as the Director of Finance and Administration for the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience.

In 2010-2011 at Montclair Kimberley, Brown coached a freshman pole vaulter to Non-Public B indoor and outdoor state titles with state records of 9-feet, 9-inches indoors and 10-foot, 7-inches outdoors.  The girl athlete qualified for Track & Field National High School Outdoor Championships and is on the US Elite list as the seventh ranked freshman in the pole vault in the nation.

On the boys’ side of the ledger, a freshman 400-meter sprinter qualified for the New Balance National High School Nationals after clocking a time of 52.22 in 2011.  The 4 x 400-meter relay team also shaved 12 seconds off of the school record.  MKA athletes qualified for the Meet of Champions in the 55-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the pole vault.

At Queen of Peace, he coached athletes to Non-Public B state championship in girls’ pole vault in 2009 and boys’ 55-meter dash in 2010.  Several of Brown’s athletes finished high in state competition, including the boys’ 100-meter dash runner-up in 2009 and 2010 as well as boys’ runner-up in the 200 in 2010.  Several athletes qualified for the Meet of Champions in each of his two years at the school.

The South Florida native ran high school track before attending Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
