Doug Dzema

Doug Dzema is in his second season with the Rutgers University-Newark men's volleyball staff as an assistant coach in 2019.

Dzema is a May 2017 graduate of Division I Sacred Heart University where he was a four-year varsity member of its men's volleyball team. Dzema worked his way up from limited playing time his rookie season to varsity captain his senior year. Along the way, he racked up 259 kills, 156 blocks, and 87 digs for his career. His .347 career hitting percentage places him 2nd in the Sacred Heart record books. In his senior season, Dzema led the Pioneers to their most wins since 2010 as the team went 15-11 to make the postseason. 

Dzema graduated from Sacred Heart with a 3.4 GPA, majoring in Exercise Science. In addition to competing on the court, he was president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a Classroom Learning Assistant. 

Dzema has served as a Club Volleyball Coach for the Warren Six Pack club in Lincroft, N.J. since December 2013 and in June of 2017 he began volunteering as a Rock Steady Boxing Coach at the CentraState Hospital in Freehold, N.J. to help patients with Parkinson's fight their disease through boxing.Â
