Jack Wilson

Jack Wilson was named the head coach of men's volleyball in 2019 and immediately put his stamp on the program. The Scarlet Raiders started the 2020 season with the best start in program history before COVID-19 shut down the season with Rutgers University-Newark ranked No. 5 in the nation.

Wilson had a season for the ages in 2020, just his first year as head coach of the Scarlet Raiders. In just their first year on the team under Wilson, Andrew Zaleck and Justin Tuohy were named AVCA/NVA 2nd Team All-American. His historic season ended with a 17-1 record after COVID-19 forced the season to end early. He earned New Jersey Athletic Conference & AVCA East Region Coach of the Year after the best start in program history.

Wilson was a two-year captain at Cosby High School in Midlothian, Virginia before playing at George Mason for four years. While with George Mason, Wilson was named captain for three of those seasons and helped lead the Patriots to their first Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Championship in 28 years. During his time at George Mason, he picked up coaching volleyball camps to help train club teams. Wilson was named EIVA 1st Team All-Conference and was named to the EIVA All-Tournament team twice during his tenure. Adding to his list of accolades, Wilson as also named a Volleyball Magazine All-American.

For two summers Wilson trained in Anaheim, California with the USA Volleyball squad which set him up to play professionally for Kokkolan Tiikerit in Kokkola, Finland for one season. Wilson's professional career was unfortunately cut short due to an injury so he decided to pursue coaching. In 2018 he was named an assistant coach for Eastern Mennonite while also coaching the Richmond Volleyball Club.

From there he became the Division I assistant coach for New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2019. With two assistant coaching positions under his belt and coaching on the club level, Wilson felt it was time to move to head coach and got that opportunity at Rutgers University-Newark.

Wilson brings in a style of play that is focused on limiting errors and learning from those mistakes and making adjustments when necessary. His teams will be built of intelligent athletic kids who are eager to come in a put in the work and work hard every day to better themselves both on the court and off.
