    Volleyball Graduate Intern
Henry Chuang is not your average graduate intern. The 30-year old mentor brings international head coaching experience to his position for the Rutgers-Newark volleyball program.

The Loyola Marymount University graduate, who played for a season at the University of California – Santa Cruz, comes to the Scarlet Raiders after a four-year stint as head men’s volleyball as well as head juniors coach for TV Buehl, Germany, in 2003. While leading the German sports club's programs, his men’s team claimed a Division 3 championship and a Relegation title while qualifying for the second national division. His juniors U-18 teams were twice Southern Germany champions while his U-21 squad earned a Southern Germany title as well as a silver medal at the 2007 national championships.

From 2001 to 2003, Chuang was head men’s and women’s coach for SSC Vellmar in Germany. He helped the women’s team to a Division 3 championship, earning them a spot in the second national division. He also served as an assistant coach at the Youth/Junior National Team Training Center during those years.

He began his interest in coaching upon graduation from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose in 1994, working at various high schools and juniors club teams in Northern and Southern California.

Chuang, who earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from Loyola Marymount in 2001, is pursuing a master’s degree in social work at Rutgers-Newark.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, he calls Hermosa Beach, CA, home.
