NEWARK, NJ – Freshman outside hitter Toni Moppert (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) led Rutgers-Newark with five kills and a service ace, but league-leading Richard Stockton earned a 25-7, 25-7, 25-16, New Jersey Athletic Conference win over the Scarlet Raiders in The Golden Dome.

Junior outside hitter Rose Anna Beljour (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) and sophomore middle blocker Crystal Navarro (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) had three kills apiece while junior setter Christina Francisco (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) chipped in a dozen assists and a service ace.
Senior middle hitter Audrey O'Connell hit a sizzling .846 with 10 kills and no errors in just 13 swings to pace the Ospreys. Senior setter Christine Aletras fueled the Stockton assault with 26 assists and added two of the Ospreys' eight aces.
O'Connell, who added two aces and a solo block, got plenty of help from senior outside hitter Amanda Burkhart who had six of her 10 kills in set one as Richard Stockton his .391 as a team to set the stage for the evening. The Ospreys (20-7, NJAC 6-0) hit .500 in set two and .318 in the final frame to finish the night with an overall .390 (32-9-59) average.
Rutgers-Newark took an early 3-2 led in set one on a service ace by freshman Gabi Mangieri (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), but RSC reeled off seven straight points to take charge of the frame.
After trailing wire-to-wire in set two, Moppert and Navarro had three kills apiece as the Raiders played their best frame of the night. A Moppert ace pulled Rutgers-Newark to within five points at 21-16 before RSC tallied the final four points.
The Raiders (1-18, NJAC 1-5) will compete in the Gothic Knight Invitational at New Jersey City on Saturday. They take on Medgar Evers at 9 a.m. in their first match of the day.
