POMONA, NJ – Rutgers-Newark sophomore leftfielder Sam Weer was the only Scarlet Raider with two hits as Richard Stockton took a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader, 4-0 and 15-2.

Weer had a pair of singles in the opener, but Rutgers-Newark (3-19, NJAC 0-6) managed just six hits in a dozen innings against Osprey pitchers Kaitlyn Corica, Danielle Accardia and Kylie Walk. Corica hurled a complete-game, three-hit shutout in game one while Accardia and Walk combined for a five-inning three-hitter in the nightcap.
In the opener, Stockton (17-3, NJAC 2-2) scored all four of the game's runs in the bottom of the first, getting six of their nine hits against losing pitcher Elena Morge (2-7) in the frame. Morge struck out four and walked none while Corica struck out six and walked four.
Freshman first baseman Shannon Davis led off the fourth with the other Raider hit in the game.
In game two, senior first baseman Nikki Spampinato singled home Morge in the fourth inning and freshman leftfielder Jessica Zelaya scored on an infield grounder by Morge in the first for the Raider runs against Acardi.
Freshmen got the other two Raider hits with third baseman Ashley Angeli getting a two-out single in the second and rightfielder Emily Ibarra leading off the fifth with a single.
Rutgers-Newark hosts FDU-Florham in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. tomorrow on Alumni Field.
