Rowan Pitching Shuts Down Scarlet Raiders

GLASSBORO, NJ – Sophomore Shannon Davis posted a pair of singles and junior Sam Weer notched a base hit in game two as Rowan pitching shut down Rutgers-Newark, 14-0 and 11-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader.

After Prof senior Jackie Sasko hurled her eighth shutout of the season, striking out eight and walking just one, in an abbreviated no-hitter, sophomore Amanda Singer posted a seven-inning shutout, scattering three hits while striking out seven and walking two.

Davis had a one-out single to rightfield in the fourth inning and added a two-out base hit through the middle of the infield in the sixth while Weer slapped a single through the left side to start the fifth.

The Profs (26-5, NJAC 13-1), the top rated team in the NCAA Atlantic Region, totaled 22 hits in the twinbill.

Rutgers-Newark (5-27, NJAC 0-14) hosts William Paterson on Tuesday on Alumni Field in another NJAC doubleheader before closing out its home slate against Staten Island on Thursday at 3:30.
