Phil Barnes had a dozen rebounds, 11 points and three blocked shots in just 16 minutes as Rutgers-Newark throttled Rowan in a 73-46 New Jersey Athletic Conference game in The Golden Dome.

The Scarlet Raiders (11-3, NJAC 3-1), who won their seventh game in a row, led by as many as 37 points in the second half and held the Profs (10-3, NJAC 2-1) to just 25.5% field goal accuracy. Rutgers-Newark blocked 10 Rowan shots.
Barnes had all of his rebounds in the opening half and hit three of four shots from the floor as the Raiders exploded for a 39-18 lead at the break.

Deshawn Singleton had 13 points and four rebounds for the Raiders while sophomore reserve guard
Greg Moore dropped in three 3-point jumpers on his way to a dozen points. Rutgers-Newark got points from a dozen players as head coach
Joe Loughran went to his bench early and often.
Senior forward Tyson Hartnett and senior guard Allen Pritchett had seven points apiece to lead Rowan while senior forward Derrick Piccini chipped in six points and six rebounds.
Rutgers-Newark visits William Paterson on Wednesday for another NJAC twinbill. The women tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 o'clock against the league-leading Pioneers.
