NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore middle blocker
Stephanie Touzan roped a career-high 10 aces, but Rutgers-Newark fell, 3-1, to Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match in The Golden Dome. Games scores were 25-13, 15-25, 25-21, 25-14.

Touzan paced the Scarlet Raiders (8-15, NJAC 1-7) with 16 points by adding six kills, but the Profs (14-8, NJAC 4-3) knocked Rutgers-Newark out of contention for the league's six-team championship tournament in Rutgers-Newark's final conference match of the season.
Junior outside hitter
Toni Moppert posted a team-high seven kills while adding nine digs and two assisted blocks while senior libero
Rose Anna Beljour posted a match-high 13 digs to go along with three of the Raider's 16 aces.
Sophomore middle blocker
Rachel Witt had five kills, an ace and three assisted blocks for a total of 7.5 points, but the Raiders could not overcome Rowan's attack.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Havlicek and freshman middle blocker Nikki Binetti notched 11 kills apiece for the Profs while freshman middle blocker Crissy Collins added 10 kills and six aces in a balanced assault.
Freshman setter Nikki Ciandella had 39 assists to fuel a Rowan team which hit .259 for the match.
After Rowan took the opening frame, Touzan delivered eight aces and Moppert had three kills as the Raiders stormed back to level the match. But, Binetti had five kills in the third set to put Rowan back into control of the match before Havlicek and Collins had three kills apiece in the final game.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Merchant Marine Academy and FDU-Florham in a tri-match in The Golden Dome on Friday. The Raiders and the Mariners square off in the opener at 4 p.m.
