MAHWAH, NJ – Rutgers-Newark sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Frances had six saves and Ramapo's Brad Stockton posted seven stops as the teams battled to an 0-0 double-overtime tie in New Jersey Athletic Conference play.

BOX SCORE & PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Scarlet Raider defense withstood 11 corner kicks and 19 shots to maintain the scoreless deadlock while the Rutgers-Newark offense put seven of its 12 shots on goal.

Junior forward Tom King put the Raiders' only overtime shot on goal in the 103rd minute while Frances stopped a shot by the Roadrunners' Anthony Pasciolla in the 91st minute to thwart Ramapo's best chance in extra time. A shot by Ramapo's Jonathan Yazo was blocked in the 92nd minute.

Senior forward Innocent Buule put three of his five shots on goal to lead the Rutgers-Newark assault.

Neither team could take control in the opening period as Ramapo led in shots, but the Rutgers-Newark put four of its tries on goal. Frances made two saves while Stockton came up with four stops to send the teams into the break in a scoreless tie.

That pattern followed in the second half as Frances made three saves to Stockton's two.

The Raiders (6-2-1, NJAC 0-1-1) were shut out in league play for the second straight time. Ramapo slipped to 6-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in NJAC play.

Rutgers-Newark hosts four-time defending NJAC champion Montclair State on Alumni Field at 7 o'clock Wednesday night.
