PROFILE OF THE WEEK (October 5, 2011)

JUNIOR (2011):  Named ECAC Metro Championship MVP to cap a spectacular senior season… three-time NJAC Defensive Player of the Week… posted a record of 11-6-2 with a school-record eight shutouts in 19 matches… 1.17 goal against average was the second lowest in R-N program history while his 97 saves were the fourth most in a season… his 5.11 saves per game was the seventh best single season average at R-N… paced Raiders to the first post-season championship in program history by allowing only one goal in 290 minutes in three matches… made tournament ending stop in fourth round of shootout as R-N claimed the ECAC Metro title following a 1-1 double-overtime tie with William Paterson (11/13/11) in which Frances post seven saves… shut out St. Joseph’s LI (11/9/11) on two saves and top-seeded Drew (11/12/11) on four saves in first and second rounds of the ECAC Metro playoffs… notched 10 saves in a double-overtime scoreless tie against Rowan (10/15/11)… blanked New Jersey City (10/12/11) with six saves in a 1-0 NJAC win… started season by making five saves in a 1-0 win over Pomona-Pitzer (9/1/11)… posted six saves in 2-1 overtime win over Redlands (9/3/2011)… had a 4-save shutout of Merchant Marine (9/7/2011) in a 1-0 Raider win… posted four saves for a 4-0 shutout of St. Joseph’s LI (9/14/11) in a regular-season road win... first team NJAC All-Academic selection.

SOPHOMORE (2010): Started in 15 matches while appearing in 17 games for the 12-9-1 Raiders… posted a 5-8-1 record with a 1.65 goals against average which was the fourth lowest seasonal norm for R-N keepers who played at least 810 minutes… notched an impressive double-overtime shutout of high-scoring Ramapo (9/24) while making six saves in an NJAC stalemate… blanked Old Westbury (10/10) in the opening round of the ECAC Metro Championship tournament as the Raiders won 1-0… stopped a season-high nine shots in a 3-0 loss to Drew (10/13) in the ECAC Metro semifinals… made three saves in the second half to share a 2-0 shutout win over No. 3 nationally ranked and previously unbeaten Stevens (10/19) with senior Matt Zielyk… yielded just one goal in 108 minutes while making three saves in a 2-1 overtime victory over Randolph College (9/5)… blanked Kean (10/6) for the first 52 minutes of the match while making two saves before exiting the game with an injury in a 1-0 loss... second team NJAC All-Academic selection.

FRESHMAN (2007): Started in 14 of the Raiders’ 20 matches, posting a record of 3-10-1 with a 2.32 goals against average against the top-tier opponents on the slate… opened his career with a 1-0 shutout performance against CCNY (9/5)… logged 1201:54 in goal, making 73 saves while facing 172 shots. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Helped Hamilton HS to a Fiesta Region championship and into the Arizona Final Four as a senior… earned school’s A.D. Scholar Award, graduating with highest honors… honor roll and citizenship honor roll student. 

PERSONAL: Graduated a season before his eligibility expired, earning honors as the top student in R-N supply chain managment program as a senior... returned to Raider squad after a two-year absence (2008 & 2009)… was a red-shirt goalkeeper at NCAA D-I UNC Charlotte in the fall of 2008, but he did not compete… lived with his mother in France for a year before returning to Rutgers-Newark in Spring 2010… born in Israel to French parents… parents are Jeanne Roederer and Maurice Frances.
