NEWARK, NJ – Senior guard Pedro Burgos netted 13 of his 22 points as Rutgers-Newark raced to a 45-27 halftime lead on its way to an 85-56 New Jersey Athletic Conference win over Rutgers-Camden in The Golden Dome Arena.

Burgos connected on three first-half treys as the Scarlet Raiders (3-3, NJAC 1-1) made five of 11 long-range jumpers in the period while shooting 54.8% (17/31) overall.  Burgos had a pair of threes and junior point guard Al'Don Muhammad six points as Rutgers-Newark powered its
way to a 30-9 lead with 7:57 left in the half.

Freshman swingman Christian Garcia came off the bench for a dozen points, five rebounds and three assists while senior guard Greg Moore hit three treys on his way to 11 points and four rebounds.

Freshman guard Doze Ikwuegbu tallied 10 points and three assists while junior center Hussein Abdelmaksoud collared a game-high 12 rebounds while adding six points and two blocked shots.

Raptor senior guard Anthony Solano made 12 of 16 free throws to score a team-high 16 points while sophomore guard Woody Redding added 14 points, six rebounds and two assists.

The Raiders have now won five games in a row against Rutgers-Camden and 10 of the last 11 in the series.

Rutgers-Newark hosts Moravian College in a non-conference game Monday at 7 p.m. in The Golden Dome Arena.
