Pedro Burgos netted 13 of his 22 points as Rutgers-Newark raced to a 45-27 halftime lead on its way to an 85-56 New Jersey Athletic Conference win over Rutgers-Camden in The Golden Dome Arena.
Burgos connected on three first-half treys as the Scarlet Raiders (3-3, NJAC 1-1) made five of 11 long-range jumpers in the period while shooting 54.8% (17/31) overall. Burgos had a pair of threes and junior point guard

way to a 30-9 lead with 7:57 left in the half.

Doze Ikwuegbu tallied 10 points and three assists while junior center
Hussein Abdelmaksoud collared a game-high 12 rebounds while adding six points and two blocked shots.
Raptor senior guard Anthony Solano made 12 of 16 free throws to score a team-high 16 points while sophomore guard Woody Redding added 14 points, six rebounds and two assists.
The Raiders have now won five games in a row against Rutgers-Camden and 10 of the last 11 in the series.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Moravian College in a non-conference game Monday at 7 p.m. in The Golden Dome Arena.
