MAHWAH, NJ – Ramapo College turned back a torrid second-game explosion by Rutgers-Newark to post a 3-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the Bradley Center. Set scores were 25-16, 11-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Rachel Witt and
Stephanie Touzan paced an error-free second set by the Scarlet Raiders (1-9, NJAC 0-1) who pounded down a dozen kills on just 21 attacks to hit .571 for the frame. Witt had four of her team-high 10 kills and while Touzan hammered down five kills in just six swings as Rutgers-Newark leveled the match at 1-1. But the Raiders cooled off against the taller Roadrunners (3-3, NJAC 1-0) in the final sets.
Witt was the only Raider in double-digit points with 13 on 10 kills, two aces and a solo block while senior outside hitter
Toni Moppert had a team-high 15 digs plus eight kills and an ace. Touzan totaled six kills while junior outside hitter
Erica Hoffman chipped in three kills, two aces and 11 digs.
Sophomore setter
Jen Mendoza fueled the attack with 25 assists while adding eight digs and sophomore outside hitter
Michelle Jimenez posted two aces, a kill and five digs.
Ramapo senior opposite Allison DiAngelo tied Witt for high-point honors with 13 on a match-high 11 kills and two aces while senior outside hitter contributed 10 kills and a pair of assisted blocks. Freshman middle blocker Sara Pendleton notched 10 points on six kills, an ace, two solo blocks and a pair of assisted blocks. Senior setter Tiffany Fischer had match highs of 27 assists and 16 digs.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Hunter College in a non-conference match in The Golden Dome on Saturday. The Raiders' home opener is set to start at 3 p.m.
