NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Camden stalled the Rutgers-Newark attack for a 3-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the league opener for each squad under the lights on Alumni Field.

Daniel Naranjo scored the Raiders' lone goal by taking a through pass from junior forward
Brian Barrera, who had turned in a long run through the middle, and beating the keeper was charging out. Naranjo put his fifth goal of the season low into the right side of the goal.

Sophomore midfielder Forrest Bennfors, freshman midfielder Joe Auleta and sophomore forward Mitch Grotti netted the Rutgers-Camden goals.
The Raptors (5-2-0, NJAC 1-0-0) gained a 1-0 halftime edge after a period in which each team took 10 shots and each goalkeeper made two saves. In the 44th minute, Bennfors put away a header into the middle of the box by sophomore back Taylor McGrory off a free kick from the right side by Auleta.
Auleta stunned the Raiders by hammering a shot from 45 yards out on the right side past a diving Frances in into the upper right corner of the goal less than three minutes into the second half. That tally proved to be the game winner.
Grotti netted an insurance goal a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
The Raptors outshot the Raiders, 24-16, while forging a lopsided 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Rutgers-Camden plays a non-conference match at Catholic University on Monday at 4 p.m. while is at Kean University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for an NJAC contest.
