Danielle Griscom
NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark senior goalkeeper Danielle Griscom made 10 saves but Kean University posted a 4-0 win on Alumni Field.

BOX SCORE & PLAY-BY-PLAY

Griscom made five saves in each period but the Scarlet Raiders (2-6-0) could not overcome a 25-5 deficit in shots.  The Cougars (5-2-1) notched their fourth shutout victory with junior goalkeeper Caitlin Hoskins needing just on second-half save to improve to 2-1-1 between the pipes.

Sophomore defender Vanessa Rivera had the Raiders' only shot on goal in the second half as the Cougars smothered high-scoring senior forward Liana Abreu, limiting her to two shots.

Junior forwards Teaghan Pecherski and Carly Seidel had a goal and an assist each for Kean which is 3-0-1 over its last four starts.  Sophomore midfielder Carla Vitola scored what proved to be the game winner in the 26th minute on a crossing pass from the right baseline by Percherski.  Percherski headed in an insurance goal less than two minutes later on a pass from junior midfielder Julianna Natale.  Senior forward Danielle Esposito scored on cross from Seidel in the 65th minute before Seidel ran onto a through pass from beyond midfield by freshman midfielder Carly Snyder with 20 minutes left for a breakaway goal.

Saturday at 1 p.m., Rutgers-Newark visits Ramapo College while Kean is at Rutgers-Camden for a pair of NJAC matches.
