UNION, NJ – Rutgers-Newark limited Kean to just 18 first-half points on its way to a 73-55 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in Harwood Arena.
Coming off of their worst defensive effort of the season in a 92-76 loss at Ramapo on Wednesday, the Scarlet Raiders (11-7, NJAC 4-3) throttled the Cougars (3-16, NJAC 2-5) in the opening 20 minutes by allowing just seven field goals.

Sophomore guard Kenny Pace was the only Cougar in double figure points with 11 while sophomore forward Kyle Latorre added nine points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Michael Burton and junior guard Anthony Gibson tallied eight points apiece for Kean.
Rutgers-Newark hosts New Jersey City in an NJAC North Division doubleheader on Wednesday in The Golden Dome Arena. The women tip off at 6 p.m. before the men square off in a critical divisional contest at 8.
