EWING, NJ – Sophomore point guard
ShaQuanna Marshall netted 16 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to rally Rutgers-Newark to a 62-55 win over The College of New Jersey in Packer Hall.
Marshall connected on five of six shots from the floor in the second half while making both of her 3-point attempts and four of five free throws as the Scarlet Raiders (10-3, NJAC 2-1) rebounded from an icy first-half shoot performance to down the Lions (9-5, NJAC 2-2) for an unprecedented third consecutive time.

Brittany Smith to turn a tie into a 60-53 Raider advantage with 1:08 remaining to secure the win. Smith finished with nine points, a team-high nine rebounds and two steals.
There were six ties and three lead changes during the final 10 minutes with the Raiders getting their first lead since the opening five minutes of the game on a fastbreak bucket by senior forward
Lori Nieves with 8:45 left to make it 46-44. Nieves finished with 11 points for R-N.
Down by 11 points with 17:25 left, senior guard
Kendra Johnson, who finished with 16 points, eight rebound, four assists and a game-high six steals, fueled a 9-0 run to bring the Raiders back into the game at 35-33. She started the rally with a 3-point jumper and contributed two steals and two assists to sustain the surge.
Rutgers-Newark shot a torrid 54.2% (13-24) from the floor in the second half after connecting on just 25% (9-36) in the first period to fall behind 29-24 at the break. But the Raiders turned the tables on TCNJ in the second half, limiting the home team to just seven field goals on 20.6% shooting accuracy.

Sharee Gordon came off the bench to score a pair of big baskets in the second half and rookie guard
Arianna Williams chipped in three steals, three rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard
Jasmine Daniels added five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Sophomore center Liz West and senior guard Jessica Imhof paced TCNJ with 13 points each. West added a team-high nine rebounds while Imhof dished out four assists. Junior center Candace Vigo came off the bench for eight points and eight rebounds to help the Lions' bench build up an 18-7 edge in scoring by the reserves.
The win gave R-N three straight wins over TCNJ dating back to December of last season. The Raiders upended the Lions in the opening round of the NJAC Championship Tournament last February.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Brooklyn College in a non-conference game in The Golden Dome Arena Monday night at 7.
