MAHWAH, NJ – Rutgers-Newark could not hold on to a one-goal lead for the second straight match as Ramapo College rallied for a 2-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference win at the Ramapo Athletic Center.

Bryan Meza scored off of a corner kick from senior midfielder
Gabriel Avans just 4:03 into the second period to stake the Scarlet Raiders to a 1-0 lead, but senior forward Rob Santaniello netted a pair of goals for the Roadrunners to spell the difference.
Santaniello leveled the match in the 68th minute by firing a penalty kick inside the left post before he scored the game winner by redirecting a shot in the box by junior forward Dave Przybylo with 12:30 left.

Edgar Abreu sent a header wide and Avans had a shot blocked by the Roadrunner defense as Ramapo held onto the lead.
It was a close contest from start to finish as the Roadrunners finished the match with the slightest of edges in shots, 16-15, and corner kicks, 8-7. Rutgers-Newark (5-4-0, NJAC 1-2-0) and Ramapo (5-2-0, NJAC 2-1-0) battled to a scoreless tie in the opening period with the Raiders holding a 7-6 edge in shots and the Roadrunners a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman goalkeeper
Matt Broomall (5-4-0) made four saves in each half while senior David Lo Bue (1-0-0) notched a 6-save shutout in his first appearance of the season.
It as a bitter loss to the Raiders who fell in almost identical fashion to Kean on Wednesday night to see a 4-match winning streak snapped.
Rutgers-Newark must now regroup to host Montclair State on Alumni Field on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
