SENIOR (2012): NCAA All-South Atlantic Region (first team), All-ECAC Metro-Upstate (first team) and All-NJAC (first team) for the 14-8-1 Scarlet Raiders… contributed an R-N record and NJAC high six game-winning goals while leading the Raiders with eight goals and six assists for 22 points… put 27 of his 67 shots on goal (40.3%)… started in 20 of the 23 matches in which he appeared… netted a penalty kick for the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Rowan (10/13)… scored in the lone goal in a 1-0 win over TCNJ (9/29)… made the ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 Plays of the Day with a desperation 40-yard bomb as the horn sounded in a 3-2 win over William Paterson (10/20)… netted the Raiders’ second and third goals in the second half as R-N rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie New Jersey City (10/10) on their way to a 5-4 overtime victory… notched the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Hunter (9/9) in the championship match of the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic… had the game-winning goal and an assist in a 6-0 win over St. Joseph’s LI (9/12)… netted the game-winning goal on his only shot of the day in a 2-0 win over FDU-Florham (10/3)… assisted on the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Old Westbury (10/8)… assisted on the Raiders’ lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Rutgers-Camden (11/2) in the NJAC Championship semifinals.

NOTES:  Senior transfer to R-N from NJAC foe New Jersey City… scored 36 points on 14 goals and eight assists with three game-winning goals in three seasons for the Gothic Knights.

JUNIOR (2011):  Started in 11 of 14 matches in which he appeared for New Jersey City which went 6-10-2… tallied 10 points on four goals and two assists… put 43.6% (17-39) of his shots on goal… netted the game-winning goal in a 4-2 NJAC win over Ramapo (10/24/11).

SOPHOMORE (2010):  Started in 14 of the 17 matches in which he appeared for New Jersey City which went 6-10-2… totaled a dozen points on five goals and two assists… put 43.9% (18/41) of his shots on goal… scored game-winning goals in a 2-1 NJAC win over Rowan (9/25/10) and a 7-0 romp against Lehman (10/4/10).

FRESHMAN (2009):  Started in 15 of the 18 games in which he appeared for New Jersey City which finished 7-9-2… netted 14 points with five goals and four assists… put 41.4% (24-58) of his shots on goal.

HIGH SCHOOL:  All-Union County and all-conference player while earning three letters at Union Catholic HS.

PERSONAL:  Majoring in business management at R-N… transferred from NJCU to R-N in the fall of 2012… son of Omaida and Walter Avans… older brother (Walter) was a three-time All-NJAC forward at NJCU (2009-11)… father coached both sons at Union Catholic HS.
