NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark got a double-double from sophomore forward
Jade Howard, but unbeaten Montclair State posted a 68-48 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in The Golden Dome Arena.
The Scarlet Raiders (12-6, NJAC 6-4) saw their four-game winning streak snapped by the No. 12 ranked Red Hawks (18-0, NJAC 10-0) who completed their regular season series sweep of Rutgers-Newark.
Howard finished with a dozen rebounds and 10 points for the Raiders while junior guard
ShaQuanna Marshall added a dozen points, four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore center
Sharee Gordon came off the bench to tally 11 points and five rebounds.
Junior forward Nicosia Henry set a new MSU record with a dozen steals and barely missed a triple double by adding 15 rebounds, eight points and five assists. Sophomore forward Melissa Tobie led all scorers with 18 points and blocked a game-high five shots.. Senior forward Taylor Jeffers added 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Trailing 37-20 at the half, the Raiders scapped in the second half to keep things close, but they could get no closer than 11 points at 47-36 with 9:54 left when junior center
