NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore forward
Jade Howard worked inside for 13 points and 14 rebounds as Rutgers-Newark downed Ramapo, 63-43, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game in The Golden Dome.
Howard hauled down seven rebounds on the offensive end as the Scarlet Raiders (15-8, NJAC 9-6) collared 19 offensive boards to out-score the Roadrunners, 19-2, in second-chance points. Ramapo (16-7, NJAC 9-5) clings to a half-game lead in the league standings, but the Raiders completed a regular-season series sweep of the Roadrunners.
Freshman guard Laura Shaker gunned in three unanswered 3-point jumpers to blow open the contest, giving the Raiders a 58-37 lead with 8:08 remaining. Junior forward
Jasmine Daniels netted eight of her 12 points in the second period while finishing the night with five rebounds and four assists.

ShaQuanna Marshall tallied a dozen points, a game-high five assists, three steals and three rebounds while freshman backcourt mate
Maria Simmons added 11 points, a game-high six steals and three assists as the Raiders buoyed hopes for an opening round home game in the upcoming NJAC Championship Tournament.
Senior guard Faith Flannery led the Roadrunners with 14 points while junior forward Micaela Moore notched 10 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.
Rutgers-Newark visits Rowan on Saturday for an NJAC doubleheader. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow 8.
It will be the final regular-season NJAC game for the Raider women who could edge ahead of Ramapo during the final week to claim the fourth seed in the six-team playoff which begins on February 16. That fourth seed would spell an opening round home date in the playoffs with Ramapo being the likely opponent.
