NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark held Rutgers-Camden to a season-low point total in a 65-34 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in The Golden Dome Arena.

Junior forward Jade Howard led the Scarlet Raiders (8-8, NJAC 4-6) with 13 points and eight rebounds while adding three steals as Rutgers-Newark turned 27 Scarlet Raptor turnovers into 29 points while limiting the visitors of just 11 field goals on 54 shots (20.4%).

Junior guard Courtney Woodard came up with a game-high six steals and handed out a game-high five assists while adding six points for the Raiders.  Junior center Sharee Gordon came off the bench to connect on five of six shots from the floor on her way to a dozen points and three rebounds.

Senior forward Jasmine Daniels and sophomore guard Arianna Williams chipped in eight points each for the Raiders while freshman center Jasmine Lombard registered seven points and four rebounds in just seven minutes of playing time.

Sophomore forward Michelle Onu and freshman forward Irene Grimanis hauled down 13 rebounds apiece to help Rutgers-Camden (4-11, NJAC 0-10) control the boards, 46-41, but Onu and senior guard Danielle Hooks netted just six points each to lead the Raptors.

The Raiders led 34-8 with 2:42 left in the opening period on a layup by sophomore guard Dominique Roberts and enjoyed a 34-14 advantage at the break.

The Raptors got no closer than 14 points in the second period before Rutgers-Newark methodically pulled away to lead by as many as 33 points.  Both team emptied their benches in the late going.

The win snapped a four-game skid for the Raiders who are still adjusting to life without senior point guard ShaQuanna Marshall whose career ended last week when she suffered a knee injury.

Rutgers-Newark visits Montclair State for an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday.  The men's game tips off at 1 p.m. with the women to follow at 3.
