NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark could not hold off Richard Stockton in the second half as the Ospreys posted a 67-58 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in The Golden Dome Arena.

Jade Howard and
Jasmine Daniels combined for 24 points and 19 rebounds for Rutgers-Newark, but Stockton turned 15 Scarlet Raider turnovers into 18 points in the second half to spell the difference.
The Ospreys (9-10, NJAC 6-6) went on a 23-2 tear to open the second half behind eight points from junior guard Alex Nardoza, seven from junior forward Sara Farrell and six from senior forward Lauren Alwan to turn a 14-point deficit into a 48-41 advantage. A layup by Alwan capped the run with less than nine minutes gone in the period.
In the first half, Howard tallied nine points while Daniels and Williams netted seven apiece as Rutgers-Newark generated a 39-25 edge at the break. Daniels hauled down nine rebounds to help the Raiders dominate the rebounding, 26-13, and all nine Rutgers-Newark players used in the period scored.
Daniels posted a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds and 11 points while Howard notched a team-high 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Williams, who netted all of her points in the opening half, added five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots while junior guard
Courtney Woodard dished off a game-high six assists.

Farrell poured in 14 of her game-high 21 points and Nardoza deposited 16 of her 20 in the second half to fuel the Stockton attack. Farrell and Nardoza each connected on six of eight shots from the floor in the final period to help the Ospreys shoot 52.9% (18-24) in the final 20 minutes. Alwan registered a dozen points, four rebounds and a game-high four steals.
The loss damaged the Raiders' hopes for an NJAC Championship Tournament berth as Stockton completed a sweep of the regular-season series between the squads and dropped Rutgers-Newark (9-10, NJAC 5-8) two games out of sixth place in the league race with just five games remaining. The top six teams make the post-season tournament.
Rutgers-Newark visits William Paterson for an NJAC doubleheader on Wednesday. The men's game tips off at 6 p.m. with the women to follow at 8 in the WPU Rec Center.
