Box Score 2 GALLOWAY, NJ – Rutgers University-Newark was edged in a pitcher's duel in the opener before losing a slugfest in the nightcap in a 3-1 and 14-6 New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader loss at Richard Stockton.
IN THE FIRST GAME, sophomore
Jess Cannon (2-3) scattered seven hits and walked just one, but Osprey senior ace Michelle Pietrocola (9-2) struck out nine, walked one and allowed just three hits to post the complete-game win. Pietrocola carried a perfect game into the fourth inning before walking junior
Toniann Donde.

Kelsey Lucas broke up the no-hit bid in the fifth with a 2-out infield single.
In the sixth, senior shortstop
Tiara Santi and freshman third baseman
Anna Carlson had back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with two away. Santi scored the Raiders run on a passed ball to make it 3-1.
Senior Nicole Chabak hammered a 2-run homer to left center field in the third inning for the only runs that Stockton would need. The Ospreys (15-5, NJAC 4-2) tacked on an insurance run in the fourth on a pinch-hit single by freshman Lauren Knoble.
IN GAME TWO, Raider senior catcher
Gabby Spinella went three for three with a pair of RBI singles to pace an 11-hit outburst. Donde and Lucas notched two hits each for Rutgers-Newark.
But Stockton collected 17 hits on its way to a 6-inning victory. Senior shortstop Grace Long hammered a 2-run homer in the first inning and a 2-run roundtripper in the fourth to lead the Ospreys' assault. Sophomore first baseman Dominique Dorris blasted a 3-run home run in the sixth inning.
After falling behind 8-0 during the first two innings, the Raiders began to claw their way back in the third following a throwing error which allowed Lucas to reach second. Donde stroked an RBI single after Lucas was sacrificed to third by freshman centerfielder
Eleni Lutas. Spinella slapped an RBI double to left field to make it 8-2.
Rutgers-Newark erupted for four runs in the fifth with Lucas capping the spree with a 2-run double down the left field line against winning pitcher Brittany Ksiezopolski (6-3). Pietrocola was brought in to get the final out of the inning before she closed out the game with a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
The Raiders (9-15, NJAC 0-6) host Kean in an NJAC twinbill on Alumni Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
