Raphael Araujo and freshman
Alex Torres netted two goals apiece as Rutgers University-Newark extended its winning streak to four with a 6-0 win over York (NY) College on Alumni Field.
The Scarlet Raiders (4-2-0) were dominant in their home opener over the Cardinals (0-3-0), out shooting the visitors, 23-6, and piling up an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Baltej Singh (1-0-0) got the win in his first action of the season, stopping two shots in the opening 69 minutes before freshman
Kevin Beites came on to notch two more saves to preserve the shutout. Singh also posted an assist with a long kick to set up Araujo's second goal on a breakaway run down the right side in the 14th minute.

Chigozie Atubi also tallied for the Raider while sophomore
Paulino Marques contributed two assists as head coach

Araujo scored just 6:38 into the fray when Marques chipped a ball from near midfield on the right side ahead to sophomore
Charlie O'Connell who dribbled toward the right corner. O'Connell sent a perfect cross to the left side of the box where Araujo went airborne to head in his sixth goal of the season.
Less than seven minutes later, Araujo made it 2-0 by finishing his breakaway run with a shot over junior goalkeeper Mohamed Elbarbury from the right side.
Dawidczyk gave the Raiders a 3-0 edge at the half when he headed a corner kick by sophomore
Dylan Elias from the right side into the right side of the goal in the 37th minute.
Torres scored the first two goals of his Rutgers-Newark career less than five minutes apart to expand the lead to five. First, he ran onto a through ball by Marques and broke away to send a shot over the charging keeper in the 54th minute. He then picked up a loose ball on the right side and raced ahead of a defender before firing another shot past the charging Elbarbury in the 59th.

Diego Moraes ignited the final tally when he sent a transition through ball to freshman
Omar Garcia in the middle of the field. Garcia chipped a pass ahead to Atubi who raced toward the right side of the goal before sending it over Elbarbury's reach with eight minutes remaining.
It was the biggest offensive output of the young season for the Raiders and the team's first shutout.
Elbarbury made five saves for the Cardinals. Araujo put all three of his shots on goal while Torres netted two goals on three shots as the Raiders unleashed a focused attack.
Rutgers-Newark has now rung up consecutive wins over Merchant Marine, Scranton, Haverford and York since opening the season with losses to Covenant and Emory in Atlanta in August.
The Raiders are at Mount Saint Mary on Saturday at 4 p.m. before returning to Alumni Field next Wednesday against Manhattanville for their final tune up before beginning the rugged New Jersey Athletic Conference campaign at The College of New Jersey on September 19.
