Box Score NEW YORK – Rutgers University-Newark dominated play in the second half of a 4-1 win over the College of Staten Island at the CSI Soccer Complex to get off to the best start in program history.

Julie Dantoni assisted on two goals during the first 14 minutes of the second half when the Scarlet Raiders (3-0-0) turned a 1-1 halftime struggle into a second-half mismatch against the Dolphins (0-2-1) who suffered a devastating injury midway the opening period.

The Raiders, who outshot the Dolphins 24-7 in the match, piled up a 12-2 advantage in the second period. Rutgers-Newark took all five corner kicks in the contest.
The teams deadlocked during the opening 45 minutes with Rutgers-Newark sophomore
Paige Lazar scoring on a low crossing pass from Ramirez less than five minutes into the fray. CSI senior midfielder Samantha Wysokowski answered for the Dolphins at 10:04 by putting shot into the upper corner of the far post after dribbling through the Raider defense off of a feed from senior midfielder Melissa Gelardi.
In the 24
th minute, Wysokowski went down with an apparent knee injury and the Dolphin attack pulled the trigger on just four shots for the rest of the contest. The senior has scored all three CSI goals this season.

Diana Aviles (2-0-0) made a save in each period to pick up the win. CSI senior Victoria Donegan (0-1-1) took the loss, yielding three goals against seven saves in the first 61 minutes before giving way to junior Kristy Colangelo.
The 3-0-0 start is the fastest in the 15-year history of the Scarlet Raider women's soccer program bettering the 2-0 start of the 2010 squad.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Brooklyn College, Frostburg State and SUNY New Paltz in the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic on Saturday and Sunday on Alumni Field. Brooklyn takes on New Paltz at 1 p.m. on Saturday to kick off the event with the Raiders tangling with Frostburg at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Brooklyn faces Frostburg at 1 p.m. with New Paltz and Rutgers-Newark capping the invitational at 4 p.m.
