CAMDEN, N.J. – Rutgers University-Newark got 28 points and 13 rebounds from senior forward Jade Howard and limited Rutgers University-Camden to just 13 second half points for a 66-44 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the RU-C Athletics and Fitness Center.
 
Howard connected on 11 of 17 shots from the floor and dropped in six of nine free throws to lead all scorers while posting her fifth double-double of the season.
 
Sophomore guard Maria Simmons finished with 12 points, five rebounds and game highs of five assists and four steals.  Junior guard Arianna Williams totaled 11 points, six rebounds and three assists while sophomore guard Shala Glenn contributed a career-high eight rebounds plus four points and four assists.
 
After a sluggish first half, the Scarlet Raiders limited Rutgers-Camden to just two field goals during the final 20 minutes while turning 11 Scarlet Raptor turnovers into 16 points.  After Raptor senior forward Irene Grimanis scored the first points of the second half on a layup to stake Rutgers-Camden to a 33-29 lead, it was all Raiders the rest of the way.  The Raptors would not get another field goal until junior forward Kamari Talley hit a layup with 8:24 left.
 
Simmons and Williams scored seven points apiece to fuel a decisive 20-2 spurt which staked the Raiders to a 49-35 lead with 12:12 remaining.  The Raptors would get no closer than 11 points before Rutgers-Newark pulled away to the final 22-point margin.
 
Senior guard Alex Gravinese and Talley netted nine points apiece as Rutgers-Camden twice led by seven points during the opening period on its way to a 31-29 edge at the intermission.  Howard kept the Raiders close with 17 points and nine rebounds before the break.
 
Gravinese paced Rutgers-Camden (4-9, NJAC 0-6) with 14 points while Talley registered 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds.  Freshman forward Cara Racobaldo chipped in eight points, five rebounds and a team-high four assists.
 
The Raiders (8-5, NJAC 4-2) bounced back from a 65-59 loss to Connecticut College on Saturday.
 
Rutgers-Newark hosts William Paterson in an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday in The Golden Dome Arena.  The women's game tips off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8.
