NEWARK, N.J. (October 23, 2015)
– Coming off a big non-conference win over No. 16 Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night, the Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team will return to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Saturday night when it hosts Rutgers University-Camden on Alumni Field.
 
The Scarlet Raiders are currently fourth in the conference standings with 14 points behind Montclair State University (18), Stockton University (16) and Kean University (15). Rowan University (12) and Rutgers-Camden (12) are tied for places five and six as a total of six teams earn berths in the NJAC Tournament. The top two seeds earn byes with seeds three and four hosting opening round matches on October 31.

NJAC Standings
 
R-N is 13-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the conference, boasting wins over three nationally-ranked opponents and a record of 9-1-0 on its home turf. Camden will bring in a record of 4-3-0 in the NJAC and 9-7-1 overall. The Scarlet Raptors dropped their last two matches – 2-1 at home vs. MSU and 1-0 at Swarthmore College.
 
In 2014, R-N and R-C squared off twice with the Scarlet Raiders falling in a pair of tight contests.
 
After a season-opening loss at home, Rutgers-Newark has won nine in a row, and since opening 1-2-0, the Scarlet Raiders are 12-2-1 overall and have defeated nationally-ranked No. 16, No. 19 and No. 20 at different times.
 
Prior to Saturday's match, Rutgers-Newark will honor three seniors on the squad in goalkeeper Matt Broomall, midfielder Ardian Djeka and back Paul Tarnawski during an on-field ceremony with the team and the players' families.
 
A total of 16 players have tallied this year for Rutgers-Newark, led by six from sophomore Chigozie Atubi and five each from junior Charlie O'Connell and junior Anthony DeRisi. Junior Sebastian Gostynski (seven) and freshman Damjan Agaj (six) lead the Raiders in assists, while Broomall's 61 saves and 1.00 goals-against average in 1433:32 minutes in goal pace R-N.
 
As a team, R-N is ranked 25th nationally in total assists and second in the conference in shutout percentage (.44). The team's 112 total points check in 30th in the country and their 39 goals is No. 39. Gostynski is fourth in the conference and 43rd nationally with his seven assists.
 
Camden checks in at No. 49 in total goals with 37, with senior Connor Hurff pacing the conference in assists (11) and assists per game (.59). Senior Mike Ryan and his 16 markers are tops on the Raptors and in the conference, slotting in eighth nationally in that category.
