Men’s Soccer Falls at No. 6 Montclair St.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (October 28, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team fell by a score of 6-0 at No. 6 Montclair State University Wednesday night in the New Jersey Athletic Conference finale for both schools.
 
Rutgers-Newark drops to 13-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the NJAC, while Montclair moves to 17-2-0 overall and 8-1-0 in the conference.
 
R-N now awaits the result of Thursday's match between The College of New Jersey and Rowan University to see about a berth in the NJAC Tournament. Currently in sixth place, the Scarlet Raiders will earn a berth if Rowan wins or the two sides draw. TCNJ is currently in seventh place, one point behind the Scarlet Raiders who own the head-to-head tiebreaker.
 
MSU ended Wednesday's contest with a 17-8 margin in shots, putting 12 bids on target compared to three for Rutgers-Newark. Each side took a pair of corners (2-2).
 
The hosts took a 2-0 lead with tallies at 18:16 and 19:04 as Damian Bziukiewicz and Kyle Goodwin each scored their ninth of the season. Matt Hendrickson notched his ninth before halftime, with Bziukiewicz, Mike Olla and Kevin Simek all scoring in the second half.
 
Junior Anthony DeRisi led the Scarlet Raiders with three shots, putting two on goal, with sophomore Chigozie Atubi putting his only attempt on target.
