NEWARK, N.J. (October 29, 2015) – Senior
Sharee Gordon led the Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Lehman College on Senior Night in The Golden Dome Arena.
With the win, the Scarlet Raiders end their 2015 season with a record of 12-15, while Lehman falls to 12-14.
Prior to the match, Gordon was honored as the team's only senior, ending her career in style by leading R-N in both kills (10) and blocks (three).

The Lightning came back to get within three (14-11), but a 6-0 run from the hosts extended the lead to nine (20-11), forcing another timeout. R-N scored three of three of the next four points after the timeout thanks to two kills from Gordon, eventually closing out the set on a Lehman error.
R-N 25, Lehman 17It was Lehman that started hot in the second, going on top 5-0, but the Raiders responded with a 4-0 run of their own featuring two kills from Moy to get within one (5-4). The Lightning again went on top, this time by four (10-6), with Rutgers responding to tie the score at 10 following a kill from junior
Tabitha Davis.
A Lehman error helped the Raiders to their first lead of the set, and three more followed, forcing a Lightning timeout. The guests' struggles continued, and Rutgers continued to extend its lead, opening a 20-13 margin on what ended up being an 8-0 run on the back of eight-straight Lehman errors. A Davis kill clinched the 25-17 set victory and put the Raiders on the brink of the victory.
R-N 25, Lehman 18Gordon led the Raiders to a 9-5 lead early in the third, tallying a pair of kills and a block, and Moy picked up multiple kills as well.
Lehman came back to tie things at 11, but never took the lead as Rutgers-Newark ran off six of the next nine points – punctuated by a big-time Gordon kill – to open a 17-13 margin. Back-to-back-to-back hammers from Gordon (two) and Moy put R-N on top 20-15, and the Scarlet Raiders sealed the win on the back of another Davis hammer.
Rutgers hit .191 in the match, ending with 40 points, 32 kills, three aces, five blocks and 30 assists. Each side recorded 44 digs, with Gordon hitting a match-high .438 for her 10 kills. Sophomore
Nathalie Breining had 24 assists, three kills and seven digs, and sophomore
Sue Riley picked up 15 digs. Moy finished with seven kills, with Davis getting six (.294) to go along with eight digs. Hormaza had five kills and three digs.
The 3-0 win was the ninth sweep of the season for Rutgers-Newark.
