NEWARK, N.J. (October 6, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball and women's soccer programs will both be in action Saturday, and both will be donning pink jerseys in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Scarlet Raider women's volleyball program will host a tri-match with SUNY Maritime and Baruch College, while women's soccer will welcome New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival Richard Stockton to Alumni Field.
R-N volleyball will play matches at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with women's soccer getting underway under the lights at 7:30 p.m.
Fans coming to Saturday's women's volleyball action will be able to donate upon entering The Golden Dome Arena, and all funds collected for women's soccer admission at Alumni Field will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
There will be a special contest between the second and third set of the 3 p.m. women's volleyball match and at halftime of the women's soccer match. Additionally, one lucky fan from each R-N contest wearing pink will also get a Rutgers-Newark fleece blanket and be coined the "Fan of the Game."
BCRF is the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the United States and is committed to bringing an end to cancer by advancing the world's most promising research. BCRF supports 240 researchers with a wealth of expertise on breast cancer prevention, treatment and research developments.
