DANBURY, Conn. (November 9, 2015) –The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team is seeded second in the upcoming Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Tournament.
The Scarlet Raiders will bring a record of 13-7-1 into the tournament and will host seventh-seeded Centenary College in the opening round Wednesday night at Alumni Field. Opening touch is set for 8 p.m.
New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival Stockton University is the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinals on Saturday and the final on Sunday after earning a bye in the first round. Third-seeded Drew University and sixth-seeded Brooklyn College will square off in another first round match, with fourth-seeded Alfred University and fifth-seeded Manhattanville College battling in the other contest.

Centenary College (11-8-0) The Scarlet Raiders have received a berth to the ECAC or NCAA Tournament every year since 2008, most recently making the national tournament via at-large berths in 2013 and 2014. The Scarlet Raiders earned the programs first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in last year's tourney, downing Babson College in the first round last November. R-N last played in the ECAC Tournament in 2012 and last won the tournament in November of 2011 with a shootout victory over NJAC rival William Paterson University.
In 2015, the Scarlet Raiders earned the sixth seed in the NJAC Tournament Championship, falling at third-seeded Rutgers University-Camden despite holding solid advantages in possession, field position and shots. With a win Wednesday, Rutgers-Newark would move on to play the winner of the Drew-Brooklyn contest. Stockton will take on the Alfred/Manhattanville winner in the other semifinal on Saturday.
