DANBURY, Conn. – Rutgers University-Newark drew an opening round bye as the second seed in the ECAC Metro/Upstate Women's Basketball Championship field which was announced this afternoon.
The Scarlet Raiders (14-13) will travel to top-seeded Brooklyn College (20-7) on Saturday for the semifinal round against the winner of the Staten Island versus New Rochelle opening round battle. Sixth-seeded New Rochelle (12-10) visits the third-seeded Dolphins (16-11) on Wednesday night.
Fourth-seeded Sages Colleges (18-7) will face Brooklyn College on Saturday. The championship game will be played at Brooklyn College on Sunday.
Rutgers-Newark returns to the ECACs for the fourth time in the last five seasons after missing the field last year. The Scarlet Raiders have never won an ECAC title, but they advanced all the way to the finals in 2012 before falling to Stockton University.
