NEWARK, N.J. (September 17, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball team snapped a brief two-match skid with a 3-0 sweep of Summit University Thursday night in The Golden Dome Arena.
Rutgers-Newark improves to 7-2 on the season with the victory, and will visit Richard Stockton Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m. as the Scarlet Raiders look for their first New Jersey Athletic Conference win of the year.
The Scarlet Raiders won with set scores of 25-11, 25-5 and 25-20, hitting a season-high .296 and picking up 38 kills, 10 aces, 31 assists and 46 digs. R-N has now won five times by sweeping its opponent in nine matches this year.

Nathalie Breining registered 10 assists.

Bryanna Urbaez made it 23-4, a kill from Kopacz made it 24-5 and the Raiders ended the set on the back of a Summit (1-10) error to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Raiders hit .379 in the set and notched 13 kills.

Jess Moy put the Scarlet Raiders on the board, but Summit came to play, opening a 5-3 margin before a kill from sophomore
Amber Borowski trimmed the lead to one (5-4).
The Defenders ran off three-straight to take an 8-5 edge, eventually opening a 14-9 margin before the Scarlet Raiders fought back within two at 15-13. Three-straight points on Campanelli's serve – including a set-tying ace – pulled the Raiders even at 17, with R-N taking the lead back at 19-18 with a kill from Antal.
A rare kill from libero
Sue Riley opened a 21-19 edge for the hosts, with junior
Kathy Hormaza picking up back-to-back kills to set up match point. After failing on their first attempt at match point, a Summit error sealed it.
A total of 13 Raiders recorded digs in the match as 18 players took the court for Head Coach
Jason Madsen. Riley led the way with nine digs and Kopacz had seven. Kopacz had a match-high nine kills (.533), Merrill had seven (.313) and Davis had four (.667). Campanelli had a team-high four aces and Merrill was close behind with three, as Breining (17) and Urbaez (11) each eclipsed double digits in assists.
