NEWARK, N.J. (September 29, 2015)
– The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball program returns to action Tuesday night at New Jersey City University, squaring off against the Gothic Knights at 7 p.m.
 
Both teams will be looking for their first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win of the season, with the Scarlet Raiders boasting a 7-3 overall record (0-2 NJAC). NJCU is currently 6-6 overall (0-3 NJAC).
 
Rutgers-Newark can be found ranked among national leaders in several statistical categories. The Scarlet Raiders are currently No. 12 in opponents hitting percentage, keeping foes to a paltry .073 through 10 matches. R-N also cracks the top-50 in (40th) in digs per set at 17.91. Rutgers ranks second in the conference in the two previously mentioned categories as well as blocks per set and winning percentage.
 
Individually, sophomore outside Hayley Merrill is 47th in the nation in attacks per set with 10.39.
 
Five Quick Spikes:
1. Rutgers-Newark has been excellent away from home this season, going 4-1 on the road.
2. Five of the team's seven victories have been clean sweeps (3-0), with the other two going in the books as 3-1 finals
3. The Scarlet Raiders have committed 69 fewer errors than their opponents (155 to 224).
4. R-N is averaging nearly two aces per set (1.8) and has 61 on the season. The Raiders are plus-16 in that stat.
5. Rutgers is averaging 1.6 blocks per set and has 13.5 more blocks this season than the opposition.
