PITMAN, N.J. (October 25, 2016) – Junior
Karolina Kopacz of the Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Kopacz and the Scarlet Raiders went 1-0 last week, sweeping host William Paterson University to clinch the program's first NJAC Playoff berth since 2006. The win was the third in the conference and 14th overall for the Scarlet Raiders (14-10 overall, 3-4 NJAC) who have won eight of their last 11 contests dating back to a September 29 win over the College of Staten Island.
The Rutherford native earns her second NJAC Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Rutgers-Newark victory over the Pioneers with a double-double of 15 kills and 21 assists. The junior added seven digs, two block assists and a block solo to her line, tallying her 15 winners by way of a lofty .429 hitting percentage.
Kopacz now has 10 double-doubles this season, and currently ranks fifth in the conference in kills per set (2.75) and fifth in points per set (3.29).
Rutgers-Newark returns to action Tuesday night in an NJAC showdown against Stockton University. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. and prior to the match seniors
