INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 22, 2016) – After a 5-2 start to the season, the Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball team can be found among the national stat leaders in several categories according to the NCAA.
The ladies – who earned a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) triumph over New Jersey City University Tuesday night – are currently No. 14 in opponent hitting percentage, holding foes to a stingy .066 mark. The Scarlet Raiders are 35th (second in the NJAC) in aces per set, racking up 2.75, and the squad leads the league and is 58th nationally in digs per set (17.63).
Individually, junior setter-outside hitter
Karolina Kopacz is sixth nationally in triple-doubles with two and 29th in aces per set (.79). The third-year Scarlet Raider leads the NJAC in both metrics, and junior
Sue Riley is ranked 33rd nationally and second in the conference in digs per set with 5.58.
Rutgers-Newark (1-1 NJAC) returns to the court Thursday night when it visits Montclair State University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
