Schedule Update: Softball on the Road Thursday

March 29 Update (3 p.m.): The Rutgers University-Newark softball doubleheader against Albertus Magnus has been moved from Newark to New Haven, Conn. on Thursday. Alumni Field - the home of the Scarlet Raiders - is not yet playable because of snow and rain. Albertus Magnus plays on an all-turf surface and rather than reschedule, the two teams have decided to get the games in.

The doubleheader - originally slated for a 4 p.m. start - will begin at 3 p.m.

March 29 Update (7:45 a.m.):

The Rutgers University-Newark softball doubleheader against Drew University rescheduled for Wednesday, March 29 has been postponed because of rain. The two teams were originally rained out on Tuesday, but because of snow melting and two-straight days of rain in New Jersey, Alumni Field is not playable Wednesday either.

Rutgers-Newark is hoping to play Albertus Magnus University in Newark on Thursday, but that game is up in the air as well.

March 27 Update: The Rutgers University-Newark softball doubleheader on Alumni Field against Drew University has been pushed back one day from March 28 to March 29. The doubleheader is currently scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

The contest was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, March 21, but because of snow and rain has now been moved twice.

R-N will bring a record of 8-6 into action Wednesday having won 3-of-4 on the road last week.

March 21 Update: The Rutgers University-Newark softball doubleheader originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 21, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 28 on Alumni Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.

Rutgers-Newark played 10 games on its Spring Break trip in Florida, but the Scarlet Raiders returned home to a snowy and wet home field on Sunday. The conditions have forced teams all over the Northeast to scramble and adjust game schedules.

The Scarlet Raiders will now return to the diamond Thursday against New York University. The doubleheader will be played at Fordham University in the Bronx. Rutgers-Newark is then slated to travel to Swarthmore College on Sunday, before hosting Drew on March 28.
