Highlights
UNION, N.J. (May 7, 2017) – Ramapo College defeated Rutgers University-Newark by a score of 7-6 Sunday in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament elimination game at Jim Hynes Stadium. Ramapo scored four runs in the sixth inning to advance in the tournament.
Rutgers-Newark drops to 24-15-1 overall and will await a possible berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament which will be announced Monday evening. The Roadrunners move to 24-15 with the victory.

Ramapo came back with three unanswered markers to take a 3-1 lead. The Roadrunners scored one in the bottom half of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth, but Rutgers-Newark responded to tie the game at three-all in the fifth.

The Roadrunners took control in the sixth, scoring four times to open a 7-3 lead. Junior Connor Walsh plated three runs with a double to left as the Roadrunners tallied their four runs on four hits in the inning.

Colin Powers walked to load the bases. A fielder's choice allowed the first run to score, and later in the frame Newark pulled within two (7-5) on another productive out.

Colin Powers pulled Rutgers within one run at 7-6, but one would be as a close as the Scarlet Raiders would get, falling in a tight one-run affair (7-6).
R-N scored its six runs on 12 hits, getting multiple knocks from four different players. Marks went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, junior
Brian Boulineau went 2-for-5, Halkias was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two walks, and Perconte was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Senior
Josh Cote (RBI), Tricarico (R), and Ball all had one hit and Ball had two RBI and a run scored.

Mike Zibrin pitched the first 5.1 innings for Rutgers-Newark, allowing five runs – three earned – on 11 hits with one strikeout. Senior
Chas Bohannon tossed the final 2.2 innings for the Scarlet Raiders, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
Jerry D'Andrea went the first five for Ramapo, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. Kevin Foulds pocketed the win, allowing two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings of relief, and Greg Westhelle collected his fourth save of the year, working 1.2 innings and giving up a run on three hits.
