Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Four Scarlet Raiders Score As They Defeat Centenary, 7-1

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders men's soccer team secured their first win in their last five outings with a 7-1 takedown of the Cyclones. Rutgers University-Newark (5-7-1) used four different goal scorers to defeat Centenary University (3-10).

The Scarlet Raiders came out strong against the Cyclones and peppered Centenary early and often. Juwan Ash and Joe Alba hit the ball on target but Will Hodic was able to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Hodic wouldn't be able to keep the Scarlet Raiders off the board for long as Miguel Sencion found the back of the net just seven minutes into the contest.

Sencion struck again just three minutes later in the 10th minute when he hit the top right corner to give his team a 2-0 lead. The Scarlet Raiders offense kept their foot on the gas as Dino Branco found his way past several defenders to collect his third tally of the season. Just like Sencion, Branco went back-to-back with a goal in the 32nd minute.

Branco took the pass from Kadir Karagoz and placed it into the bottom left corner for his brace. Adonis Scotland got in on the scoring spree seven minutes later to put Rutgers University-Newark up 5-0.

Centenary finally got on the scoreboard when Besnik Hadzovic hit one over Andres Medina's head towards the end of the first half.

Ahmed Moawad added a brace in the second half both of which were in the bottom left corner with Joshua Breton-Jones assisting one of them.

Christian Andrach and Klaivert Chuquirima both got action in between the pipes in the game this afternoon. Andrach made a pair of saves while Chuquirima wasn't called upon to make a save.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Saturday, October 12 when they host Rutgers University-Camden at 7:30 pm.
