Both teams were held scoreless through the first pair of innings despite Carleton threatening after two batters found their way on via a walk in the first inning.
Rutgers-Newark was led by Arute in the top of the third when she singled to get on base. Arute wouldn't have to wait on the bases long as
Brielle Mattiello crushed a triple to left field allowing Arute to race all the way home. Before Lara grounded out to the third baseman, Mattiello was given the green light to steal home and would do so successfully.
Carleton looked to even the score in the bottom of the third but was unable to bring any of their runners home despite loading the bases.
Once again Carleton threated, putting two runners on the bags but they were stranded there.
The Scarlet Raiders added a run to their total late in the game after

Desiree Roman came in to pinch run for Morton and would fly around the bases when Tomaselli hit a single to left field.
Carleton finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh after an error allowed the run to cross the dish to give them their lone run of the game.

Samantha Hoffman moved both over with a sacrifice bunt, putting both in scoring position. Arute, who finished with three of her teams seven hits, belted the ball over the left-center field fence to leapfrog Endicott.
Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raiders, their bats would go cold as they would be held scoreless for the remainder of the game while Endicott scored eight runs spread across four innings.
